Threema

Connect your organisation’s Threema Gateway ID to a project. People write to your ID in the Threema app, messages arrive in the inbox and your team replies from Commelia. Each project can have one ID.

Threema is available depending on your plan.

  • A Threema Gateway account with a Gateway ID of your own, for example *EXAMPLE. Request one here.
  • The ID must be set up in end-to-end encrypted mode with incoming messages enabled. Basic mode cannot receive messages, so it does not work for support.
  • The ID’s API secret and its private key. Threema shows the private key once when the key pair is created. Keep it, it cannot be shown again.
  • Credits in the Gateway portal.
  1. Open Project settings → Threema, enter the Gateway ID, the API secret and the private key and click Check and connect. Commelia checks the credentials and that the key belongs to the ID.
  2. In the Threema Gateway portal, enter the callback URL shown in Commelia as the callback of your ID.
  3. Publish the ID or its QR code on your website so people can start a conversation.

Secret and private key are stored encrypted and are never shown again.

  • People add your ID in the Threema app and write to it. They appear with their Threema nickname and ID. Your team sees no phone number or email address.
  • Messages are end-to-end encrypted between the person’s app and Commelia. Commelia decrypts them to show them to your team and encrypts your replies before they go out.
  • Photos, voice messages and files people send are stored privately with the conversation, are only visible to your team and are deleted with the conversation. Your team replies with text.
  • There is no reply window as on WhatsApp. Delivery shows as sent, delivered and read.
  • Outside opening hours, people get one automatic away reply, as on WhatsApp. In auto mode the assistant answers Threema messages as in the web chat.

Threema bills your organisation directly through credits. Each message you send costs one credit, and a file costs an additional one. Threema may charge for incoming messages if you receive far more than you send (more than 10 to 1). Commelia shows your remaining credits in the project settings. When they run out, replies fail until you buy more. People need the Threema app, which they buy once.

Starting conversations, sending files, group chats, polls and delivery receipts for incoming messages.
